Today is the first day of my birthday month! I did start celebrating a little early with a trip to the farm - Carole's farm in Indiana. I am such a city girl! I actually got to TOUCH a Mother horse and her COLT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I watched a working saw mill - just like the one on The Waltons! John, Carole's husband, sawed a piece of wood for the Quilt Bee Ladies and then he planned it for us! We saw the farm dogs wrestle and fight - the younger one knew he wasn't the Alpha dog! We saw Carole's beautiful gardens and her NEW KITCHEN OVERHAUL! John built the cabinets and installed them all!!!!!! He did an outstanding job! It is BETTER than anything you'd buy in the store. We ate a happy lunch together. We held a grand Show & TEll. We had such a fun day that we didn't want to go home. Kathy and I bonded over NASCAR - neither one of us knew the other was a fan! Now we can talk RACING! She really knows her info - I'm still a beginner!
For the rest of the evening I went home and watched NASCAR. Reed Sorrenson came in first in the Busch race! But sad to say no race for Sunday! Next week - the Brickyard!
Sunday - Geri was thinking about coming over to pin her quilt that she will be putting in the Guild Show. We all got late starts - I went to church and then came home had breakfast, went grocery shopping and started to watch the DVD of Dynasty. I think there were 6 or 7 episodes to watch so I had to pace myself. I did do some work on one of my quilt bindings but by the afternoon I found myself in such a race deprived state that I actually found myself watching an IRL race! Geri called at 4PM to say it didn't look good for quilt pinning. I told her I am going to nag her until this one (Yellow Brick Road pattern) is ready for the show. It is too pretty to stay just a top! Molly and I celebrated more almost birthday festivities by going for ice cream. Oh, I also finished two more books Murder in the Rose Garden by Elliott Roosevelt and Broken Dishes by Earlene Fowler. I am an Earlene Fowler fan and this book was a good one in the series. I must say that for the Roosevelt series I would like to read another one on the list before I make a comment - this particular title was a little dull! I am a big fan of Margaret Truman's Mysteries so I know it's not the genre.
Today I've spent the day shopping for Digital Cameras and Desk Top Computers. These items are for school and for a freelance writing assignment so I need to get up and running quickly! Tomorrow I am taking a class on Grading Systems - FUN!
