Started the day shopping - ended the day at a party!

Started the day at Office Depot's Teacher Appreciation Breakfast after one hour of shopping I picked up Geri and we drove off to Crown Point, Indiana, to pick up her new puppy Riley. Geri's puppy, named Riley, slept all the way home (the ride was about an hour long)! He seemed so relaxed. He was a little cutie - wait a minute, I don't think I've ever said a puppy was UGLY! I am Riley's Aunt so of course, I think he is very cute. (I just tried to add pictures to my blog but for some reason they wouldn't download. DRAT!) We also picked up a puppy for another friend. I held that puppy on my lap all the way home in the DRIVING rain storm! My puppy, which I named Stormy (temporarily), cried half way home. He was so cute - I must admit I really wanted to keep him! He seemed like a quick learner and he had an adorable face. What held me back? I think he was going to be a little too big for me to handle.

Before we picked up the puppies we stopped at a wonderful Folk Art Craft store - I can't remember the name but it is east of the courthouse. We always go crazy in that store because everything is so creative! We also had hot dogs from a street vendor -Madaline's. They were very fresh and I must admit I was a skeptic because it was hot out so I automatically think FOOD POISONING but the lady (and her husband) were very clean and tidy about the stand! As a matter of fact the shop owner of the Folk Art store recommended it to us - wasn't that nice of them? After that part of the trip we drove over to our FAVORITE QUILT SHOP in Crown Point - Bits and Pieces. I went in with the resolve not to buy anything however I did have a 20% coupon for Thimbleberries Fabric - so I bought fabric to make the reversible quilt in their new book. It has a very cool binding that you cut extra wide and then the way you sew it on makes a little border and binding all at the same time.

I arrived home just in time to go to church and then get back so I could go to the library party. We had such a fun time celebrating the completion of the SRP! Now it's on to the fall season! No, I didn't forget to tape the race but wouldn't you know the tape ran out with 8 laps left to go!

Sunday - cleaned house all day! I love to multi-task so I also watched the race, copied CD's on my new computer (using my new Lightscribe) and did my wash. Molly and I celebrated a fun weekend by driving over to the DQ for ice cream. We always eat the ice cream as we watch the baseball games at the nearby park- well, no games - so as we sat there a police car drove over to see if there was a problem - wasn't that nice of the officer? I had to explain to the policeman that I can't drive and eat a cone all at the same time. He laughed and went on his way!
