March 8, 2006

Okay, okay so I haven't updated my blog lately.... I've been busy...watching RACING! It's back and I'm glad.... been watching my new Speed channel! They had 70 hours of shows right up to Daytona and I watched 140 hours!!!!! I watched as I taped. I am now into Truck races - that's why I got Speed. It was money well spent to watch Mark Martin win two back to back WINS ....I know, I know! I've got a new rookie driver that I'm keeping tabs on - can you guess? - Denny Hamlin. When he won the Shootout and his parents were crying.....I could have cried along with them. I must say Tony Stewart and Junior really seemed to take care of Denny through the race!

NASCAR really knows how to put on a show - Hall of Fame in Charlotte! When will it open and can I go?

Got my first NASCAR clothing - t-shirt with Carl Edwards logo. (Oooops already spilled coffee on it.) This was due in part to all the shopping I did for the Midday. Every store I went to had NASCAR STUFF! I found Pez dispensers, valentine candy and race car shaped pillows. Some I didn't buy, some, I just couldn't help myself!

Quilting did you say quilting! I've been sewin' up a storm. I have two UFO quilt tops done! One was a project that was over a year old (Yellow Brick Road pattern) because it was from the Midday Madness of 2005. This top will be a utilitarian quilt because I'm backing it with flannel. The second top was the project from Midday 2006 - imagine that - called Slash your Stash. Didn't buy anything, shopped from my stash. I really put a dent into my 30's fabrics so much so that I've put out a call for a certain border fabric that I need to finish the project. I've even got my first two Thimbelberries BOM done. I need to start the March block. One set I am crayon coloring and does it add zing! I also finished a wall hanging called "Angels, angels everywhere". It was supposed to be a pillow but I don't really like pillows so I turned it into a wall hanging by just adding borders. I cut 2 inch strips of fabric and then 3 inch strips. Then I sewed them together in one long strip and just kept going round and round the top. It looks very cool. I guess "age" does that - it makes you say - just go for it! I've been really living by the adage - done is better than sitting in a project box. I whip up these tops with no rhyme or reason. I just follow what looks good to me! And - no - I haven't neglected my Lewis and Clark quilt, that one is still rolling along!

Books: The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo (this was a WOW book, quick read, filled with symbolism). The same lady who did "Because of Winn-Dixie"

Music: Bubblegum Classics Volume 1 and 2
Who doesn't tap their toe when they hear "Jam up and Jelly Tight" - can you dig it?
