November 19, 2006

I can't believe it's been so long since I blogged! Maybe September had me feelin' chatty!

Today is the last race weekend and I am at work so I can't see the telecast! I
watched the Truck race and some of the Busch race and ALL the Cup pre-race shows and I will watch ALL the post-race info. I am cheering for Denny Hamlin but also for Jimmie Johnson but whoever wins in the top 5 will be okay with me 'cuz I like them all. Last night because I happened to be at a local sports bar, Galway Tribes, I ended up watching the Mt. Carmel/Lincolnway football game. I like football but I haven't really watched in awhile - I couldn't get over how slow the game seemed after watching so much racing. I tried to explain this but I don't run into (no pun intended) many NASCAR fans out my way. Oh by the way - Mt. Carmel won! Way to go Caravans!

I've been working on my Cherry Baskets quilt (2 blocks done!). I bought the fabrics as a kit on my Wisconsin trip - what Wisconsin trip you say? That's for a later blog. The fabrics are all different browns so I am going to mix them up and use three different fabrics in each block. The link will take you to the store that had the kit. This store was selected to be in the Quilt Sampler magazine. I can testify that it deserved the spot in the magazine. The shop had so many cool kits, fabrics and books that you just wanted to make everything! I get the same feeling when I go to my local quilt shop - Thimbles in Lockport.

I just finished reading the biography of Man O'War. I picked this one because I really enjoyed Seabiscuit and I thought Man O'War was the horse Seabiscuit raced against. It wasn't - Seabiscuit raced War Admiral - Man O'War was his grandad. The story explains horse racing in the early 1900's. Very interesting - very cool horse! I enjoyed the horsey tidbits - Man O'War would sleep laying on his side with his nose sticking out from under the stall door. I also finished A Week in the Life of NASCAR. Not much readin' just good pictures!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
