Molly was an exhausted little puppy on Saturday.
We started off the day - 8:00 in the morning - by doing a 1.5 mile walk. It was called "A Pooch Walk". All proceeds went to the Franciscan Outreach program for the Homeless. I had tried to register online but just never got around to it so instead at the registration table I had to try and fill out a form and hold Molly's leash with the same hand! Not possible - we went back to the car and filled out the form - LOL. (I had planned to get there early so we could walk a little before the event started.) While sitting in the car we listened to music, drank coffee, painted our nails, and sucked in the AC. When we were done we took our forms back to the sign in table and proceeded to enter into the holding area. The site for this event was Lake Katherine in Palos Heights, Illinois. It is such a beautiful area. On one side of the property is the Cal Sag Channel with the MSD Water Aeration Plant and on the other is Rt. 83 - a very busy highway!
Molly did a great job on the walk. The only time she started to bark was at the blessing. The priest started the prayer by asking for silence. I picked Molly up so she wouldn't get stepped on and sure enough she starts looking around, spies some dog that caught her eye and then gives some woofs! It was cute - Molly always has to get in the last word!
Right after that we drove to my favorite Bird store to pick up some stored seed. Then we drove out to Frankfort for an outdoor agility exhibition. This was my first show and Molly too! I've seen the competitions on TV and they seem FAST but in real life the dogs are a blur. We sat on hay bales that ringed the course. Molly watched so intently that I actually looked to see if she was taking notes. She was fascinated! We were good spectators UNTIL this Border Collie came out. The "in charge" person introduced each dog and when she got to this BC she warned us that this dog gets so worked up on the course that he will run off the course and charge other dogs. Up to this moment Molly had been as silent as a mouse, the BC comes out and as he's warming up he starts barking. That was all Molly needed so she starts barking at him. The "in charge" lady comes over to us and asks us to move toward the back of the crowd so the BC wouldn't see Molly! I'd love to know what was in Molly's mind that made her bark at that particular BC but no other dogs! After that we drove home, I went to church later in the day and then we watched the Truck race!
