Yesterday was such a busy day! I went to a lunch/pool party at the home of a friend/co-worker. We all enjoyed the sun, hot weather, cool pool and good talk! Did I mention the good food? After that I drove over to pick up my friend from her job. She took me on a tour of the place where she works (WOW!) and then we took off for our Last Thursday of the Month Bee. So I spent the evening with good friends, good food and great quilts. This group meets only during the summer months that means our first get-together holds more talking than quilting! What a great way to start the holiday weekend!
Today as I sewed this morning on my Garden Quilt Kit I thought about changing my sewing table so I can raise/lower my machine. That's going to be quite a job because I sew on an old desk! But then I started thinking about some of my favorite and/or best tools in my sewing room. My first big investment was my BIG Board. It took me a long time to decide to purchase one but it sure has proven to be a good addition to the sewing room. I can sew whole yardages of fabric and whole backings in one swoop without twisting and turning the fabric. Plus I placed my big board on top of two of the largest plastic drawer organizers I ever saw and now I have extra storage space underneath. (The site shows what I did but when I set mine up they didn't offer the organizers on the webpage). My Big Board also does an excellent job as a Flat Surface Storage Area! You know what I'm talking about ...... you have ALL this space but you end up ironing in area that's the size of a tea bag! Then you look around and discover that every flat surface on the ironing board is covered with stuff! You're not messy.... you're utilizing your Flat Surface Storage Area!
