Two more days to Molly's birthday!
I am coming down from Rosemont, Jo Morton's lecture at my guild, and the Easter holiday! These past few weeks have been filled to the brim with fun! Rosemont was so spectacular - one of my very favorite booths turned out to be a new one called Reproductionfabrics.com - This is an online store that came to be a vendor and was I glad! I had just finished telling my friend Dee that I didn't plan on buying much because I bought a lot last year when I came around the corner and fell into this lovely booth. I broke my buying resolution right away! I bought purple pack, a double pink pack and two lovely old fashioned post cards on fabric. This shop is in the "know" about dating fabrics. They even have referenced handouts to accompany various fabric packs. Isn't that a neat idea! I also stopped at the BoNash booth and bought their ironing board cover and shoe. I haven't put them on my board so I'll keep you posted on this one. Hey, I also bought a machine at Rosemont (see what happens when you give up on a resolution). The last time I went on a sewing day (Winter Picnic at NSQG) my old traveling machine died. My vow has always been that when that machine gave up I would replace it with a MUCH lighter machine so I bought a JemPlatinum760. I've been sewing on my new machine while my good machine is being tuned up and so far it is a dream! I can't believe that such a little machine can do so much. Another favorite booth was of course - Country Threads. Their booth was so inviting. I also enjoyed Jan Patek's booth as did my checkbook! And of course my favorite the Martelli tool company. I had my rotary cutter from Paducah that needed a new blade but I couldn't get the screw off so I took it to the booth. They worked on it...they didn't like the way it was working soooooo they gave me a new one! Isn't that great customer service!
Now we come to Jo Morton's visit to my guild! We were excited.....I had 12 people that wanted to meet us just for dinner with Jo. I told her she was a star! She did the best lecture - Making New look Olde! I wanted to make everything she showed. She gave batting tips (Mountain Mist Blue Ribbon cotton) and binding tips! I could have listened all evening but we had to be out of the library at 9PM!
Now to Easter - one of the best holidays because it is not loaded with BUYING and BAGGAGE! I went to the family dinner and ended up driving home in a horrible storm, as I tuned in to the car radio I kept hearing all about tornadoes that were spotted in the town I just drove through - NOT FUN!
I've been spending my after Easter holiday doing my favorite thing - checking out the local animal shelters. I found a wonderful dog at TLC. His name was Sammy and he was a JRT mix and he was deaf. He would make a wonderful companion but he was just a little too much for Molly. I ended up trying to talk another family into a Golden mix in a nearby kennel. Her name was Gambler. I was so taken with this dog that Molly and I went back to look at her on Tuesday. I thought maybe Molly would also be smitten with this calm lady! I couldn't get a read on her reaction. She wouldn't look at the dog (this was the first one that didn't want to jump all over her) but all of a sudden she started to drool! The kennel volunteer said he'd never seen a dog do that!
Today I went to Old Stone Cafe in Lockport to see a live radio broadcast (WGN) of the Cathy and Judy show! Very interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes of a radio talk show! I like to see if I can guess what the personalities look like from just their voice!
What will I be doing later? Napping, cleaning the sewing room....maybe. Oh wait, I forgot ....I just finished Daytona by Ed Hinton. Very well done...a must for NASCAR fans! If your new to the sport it will fill in lots of historical gaps.
